Famiglia Montonese Association was founded in 1953 and it is located in Trieste. It is a non-partisan association and it represents the Italian refugees of Montona/Motovun, who  were obliged to leave Istria when in 1948 this area was ceded to Yugoslavia. The aim of the association is to keep Italianism and the community spirit of Montona inhabitants alive and to promote the active involvement of the members.

In Rome, in September 2003 the Montonese Family  celebrated the 50th anniversary of its foundation.
On this occasion a laurel wreath was placed on the Altare della Patria by the Family. The inhabitants of Monton and their friends attended to the audience of  Pope John Paul II.
